C&C Solo Seat - Leather or Vinyl?

C&C Solo Seat - Leather or Vinyl?
I am in the final stage of ordering my C&C Solo with passenger pillion, and I want to make sure I am making the right decision on the cover.
I have had a custom C&C before, I had a SportTour for my Dyna, with leather, and the gel inserts.
My dilemma is; this time I went with vinyl (the carbon fiber), after reading the opinions here. They say the vinyl holds up better, and is easier to take care of, and of course saves a ton of $$. Not worried about cost, I just want to make sure I am buying the right cover for the long haul.
Also, I had the gel inserts before, and honestly, they seemed to be hotter than **** in the summer, and I really did not notice a benefit on the long rides. Am I crazy? Should I get them again?
Those with experience on these, please chime in, it is appreciated!

leather v. vinyl? my vote goes for leather. it breathes better, and develops a patina as it ages. some don't like that.
gel? no. as you've already experienced, when it gets hot, it stays hot. same with cold. the other thing is that it doesn't compress, so it can develop 'pressure points' as you have a heavier spot move gel to another spot.
my opinion only.

I am going leather. I have always had it, and had no issues, but I went down the rabbit hole, and listened to too many other people, clearly.
I have a couple co-workers praising the vinyl, and there are some opinions here in favor of it, but I really think I should stick with leather, too.
Thanks for confirming, I will keep the gel out of the order.

It sounds like your too late for opinions , if you have allready ordered it .
I like the carbon fiber look and allmost ordered it , BUT last minute change , I decided on leather over vinyl ( cost difference is only slight ).
I chose comfort over looks , leather " breaths " somewhat , and you don't experience swamp *** , like you may with vinyl .
Too many negative comments on the temp swings with gel , so no.

I was on a same boat when I was ordering my LePera seat. Vinyl or leather? leather was about $400 more. I went with leather. The reason why I went with leather is because in my mind, leather will wear better as time goes. I know they make vinyl look just like leather these days, but still, it's vinyl and my bike deserves the best What my baby wants my baby gets!
I never had any issues with heat. On long trips, I use one of those waffle seat covers. One thing I would suggest with leather is to either cover the seat or remove it when washing your bike. I try to avoid getting is soaking wet.
I also didn't go with gel on advice of LePera person on the phone. They told me that gel would be considerably harder than foam and their seats are already on a firmer side.
So my vote is, go with leather. It's just better option, especially if money is not a factor.

I agree with many on here on getting leather and ditching the gel. The gel you know about, but the leather, in my experience, is just a bit softer than vinyl and keeps you in your seat more. Vinyl is a bit more "slippery". I have leather seats on both my King and Sporty. I just use a leather cleaner and conditioner about 3 times a year and they still look as new after about 10 years.
