There isn’t a modular or full faced helmet out there, that I know of, that doesn’t have a face shield you can raise or remove. Then you can enjoy the wind on your face.

I ride with any of mine this way regularly, face shield open or removed.

I used to ride w/ my modular open while riding my Wing burning one with no issues... that barn door of a windscreen sure helped.

It may not be a logical choice but it seems I get a better touring experience with a 3/4 than a modular, especially as I take 2 lanes whenever possible...

Another "agree" here. As mentioned earlier, my 3/4 is my "go-to" of my 3 different styles. With the 15" Freedom Shield, I get plenty of protection and I still get the "wind in your face" experience.
I personally like some air. Even in my 30+ years of snowmobiling in some extreme weather, I would find myself cracking the visor some for fresh air.
With my Simpson Mod Bandit, I seem to continue this trend and most of the time ride with the visor either full open or at least cracked a bit. As an aside, the helmet seems louder fully closed up.

My only negative on my 3/4 helmet is that the odd time, I've had a bug hit and "squeeze' through the cheek pads and end up in the ear pocket. A bee buzzing in your ear gets your full attention...quick!
I suppose if you ran with the face shield down all, or most of the time, this wouldn't happen. I don't however...My configuration is the peak visor and the drop down sun visor when needed.
I changed out the drop down visor to an amber one. I ride with transition sun glasses so about the only time I use the drop down visor is rain and the amber works great for that.

2 years ago while coming from Canada, I flipped up my visor on my modular just in time to catch an incoming bee. I calmly released the latch and flipped the front section...TOO LATE! That bastard burrowed in behind my ear and stung the ever-lovin' **** out of me. The composure it takes to ride 60 mph, in traffic, with no shoulder to pull over on while that is happening is incredible.

All this did was make me love my skull cap even more for warm weather.

Winter time helmet thread FTW!

About 10 years ago coming back from Canada in New Brunswick, I was about an hour from the Woodstock crossing and a bug hit me, well at the time I didn’t know it was a bee or wasp or hornet… While I was in the crossing line at the border it woke up and started to bite me on the ear. I got to the crossing and the border patrol said , you ok, I told him what happened and he offer a medic. He said I can see the swelling, you sure you’re ok. I pulled over and took my first aid kit out and rubbed some Benadryl… damn it hurt. So yes, there isa small gap there. A bee gap apparently.lol
It was with my RJ Platinum R helmet.

Everyone will have bee/wasp stories eventually. Especially with open face helmets (and open jackets) ask me how I know. Last tour, I got a rock in the eye. My Wiley X cracked but saved my eye. Damn, expensive glasses to replace but worth every penny. Call me stubborn. I will still travel with the 3/4...

In the warmer months it’s the 3/4 but if we’re traveling we’re pulling the trailer and the Neotec is ready for action. It’s way worth it in the rain.

I'm really leaning towards the modular. I'm going to find some time after our winter vacation in a couple of weeks to try on the HJC I90 and I100 due to tjeir price point and reviews about noise levels. I'll see what else I can find to try on as well.

It'll probably be a modular for most of my riding and the half for quick trips to work or around town on hot days.

I guess I'll have to decide if I'm going to get another wired headset too or go wireless. That's for another thread. Lol

Your larger BMW or sport bike dealers usually have a nice selection of helmets. Price can be a deal breaker, but try on a few. The BMW dealer I went to let me try on 4 helmets I was interested in and stood next to a bike they revved up to get a sense of the noise levels between helmets. At the time the Schuberth C3 Pro was the lightest and quietest. I mentioned 3 in my earlier post to try as well.

FYI, the Schuberth already has built-in wifi antenna, speakers, and mic. Just need to get their comm unit, which is made by
Sena.

Schubert, Shoei and Arai are by far the best in the business. But Arai still doesn’t make a Modular. They do make great FF and open face though.
