Hey guys I have a 2001 road king classic, it’s missing the strip of chrome on top of the headlight, does anybody on here have it? Off an old wreck or just have one laying around that u be willing to sell at a good price? From what I can tell it’s the only thing missing from my bike, I’ve only had it a couple months. Or is there a good source for these kinds of parts? Thanks in advance!
This may help:

FYI, but when you install the trim piece, where you see XMM in the link photo, use thick double sided foam tape on the bottom in the U to stick it to the top of the of the NACELLE, so it does not rattle. in the Second link photo, can see the U on the bottom where you want to use the tape in that center section, and may need to build the tape up with a layer or two, so tape is proud about 1/16" of the bottom side edge flats so tape can stick to the top of the alcohol cleaned Nacelle surface.
Also, on front shaft part that will use a self taping nut (8) to bolt is down at the front inside of the Nacelle (in the second link photo), use a rubber flat washer above that nut inside the nacelle. The rubber part of the washer compresses when the nut is tightened, to keep it from rattle up front long term.
Hence once you get it, go to home depot, and in the metal cabinets in the fastener isle, can pick up the self taping nut, the rubber backed washer, and double sided tape as well.
And to add, bolt 3, that has large washer and nut inside the nacelles as well, and like to use the rubber washer under the washer before bolt as well, since the compressed rubber helps to hold the cover front tight as well long term. And yes, drop of 242 blue loctite on all the threads, since its a Harely that is going to try to shake every nut and bolt loose on the bike in a mater of time.
And just a FYI, if you do go to pull the nacelle from the bike, preload bolt 3 with nut and washers loose as you put the nacelle back on the bike and back together. That bolt is way, way back in the nacelle, and a PITA if you don't, and trying to add the washers and nut with needle nose plyers after the fact, NO Joy.
As for installing the trim piece, bottom of the front lens trim right has philips screw (19), so remove that screw, then pull the entire trim light trim ring from the bottom outward to start with until is just clears the bottom lip. There is a U spring on the top of the ring (26), that goes into a slot on the light bracket, so again pull out from botttom and up once the bottom edge clears, so you don't break the top spring.
From there, remove the black bolts (1) that holds the entire light assembly to the nacellas front (should be like 8 of them, pulling 23 forward out as complete unit), and just unplug the light connector to set it aside.
Make sure that bolt 3 is tight, add rubber washer at this time as well to it, double side tape the bottom of trim piece at bottom center, insert trim piece end tab into cover slot and take up any gap as the tape start to stick to the top of nacelle, and then push down the front of trim so front shaft goes through from slot, install the rubber washer and thread in the self tapping nut to shaft secure the front of the trim.
Note, don't go buck wild on torque to self taping nut to unthreaded shaft, since too much torque is going to just cause the self tapping nut to strip out the shaft. Think finger tight until you get light compresion on the rubber washer to botttom inside of Nacelle, then 1/8" turn, and let the blue loctite do it thing to keep the nut tight in the end.
If you have the double sided tape correctly installed built up in the inner U of the trim, front section should free stand off the front of the nacelle about 1/8", before you install the rubber washer and self taping nut to pull it down tight to top of Nacelle. Again, the back side with two sided tape is just to keep it centered and tight there, and front self taping nut will do the rest. If down the road you have to pull the trim piece, use new double sided tape before you reinstall it again.
Hence reason that your is missing, it was pulled and not re double sided taped, and someone over tighten the self threading nut, to strip out the shaft as well.
To add, before you go to install the trim piece all together, pick up some Nevr Dull or Semichrome, to gleam the top of cover and top of nacella to start with/where the old piece moving about before it fell off, marred the surfaces.
As for top cover at the steering lock cylinder, if your just has the plate with center hole that allows water to get into the cylinder, now would be a good time to pull the cover, gleam it up, and change out the cylinder plate to one with cover. The top cover is retained by just the front bolt and the two cylinder plate bolts.

Now worries, since just rebuilt my forks last weekend on the road king, where you have to strip the nacelle to get to the forks in the first place, and was fresh on my mind from putting it all back together. Also, saw that the trim piece your getting did not have the double sided tape that the oem one will come with, so reason for pointing out adding in the double sided tape as well.
Side note, Maxima 15w fork oil that came out of the forks blacker than squid ink, from only 30K miles since last fork rebuilds.
Hence no way that just pulling the lower drain plugs and replace the fork oil without pulling forks off the bike, is going to get that mess of a old oil remnant oil flushed out in the first place.
