Default Problems with Twin Cam 96

Has anyone expierianced any problems with Harleys Twin Cam 96?

You're not going to find anything as complex as an engine that someone hasn't had an issue with. But seems to me that most guys are really happy with theirs. I wouldn't be dropping 20 large on mine if I didn't think the 96 TC motor had any major issues.

FWIW, Joe Minton, a guy who has been writing about motorcycle tech stuff for decades, has an article in the current issue of American Rider where he extols Harley motors in general. The general theme he expresses is that each design generation has been better than the one that preceded it - and that the 96 TC is the best so far.

+1 - It's a solid design. It's not the most powerful out there, per CC, but it's a simple, proven, solid design. It works.

19 K on my 07 with a few minor problems. Performance wise stock it is good. I added the normal A/c kit, Fatcat, Cams and thyndermax and it got better. Anything can be improved. My only concern ids the oil seep at the tranny and motor case, HD says it is normal but it is not. They replaced the seal and it still leaks. I will fix it myself when I decide for a bigger motor..

Myself and 2 buddies have '07's and none have problems to my knowledge[sm=signs006.gif] Big problem is $$ to do all we want to them , LOL !![sm=bling.gif]
