Default 2012 FLHTP Belt Deflection

Guys this may be a weighted question but Ill ask anyway. New Harley owner here BTW.

I had the wheel off for some polishing and set the belt deflection per manual when reinstalling. 1/4-7/16" with the tool (10lb) and I got it right in the middle. Did it on the jiffy stand.

The belt seems REALLY tight but I may just be saying this because i know it was substantially looser before i took the wheel off. Also cams are almost maxed out all the way. Does this seem normal?

Is the belt supposed to be "pretty damn tight" ?

What manual are you using?

Right now on the Jiffy stand i have 3/8" of deflection. So I am technically within the spec. It "feels" wicked tight. Guess I am used to chain drive bikes where you want some slack. Thought it gets tighter when you sit on it / when compressing suspension as well.

Do u guys actually run your belts with only 3/8 of deflection?
