RE: 140 TO 150 REAR TIRE
From what I know, you can go with 150, but you'll need to make some modifications to the belt and the primary. Too much work for me, so I don't want to try.

RE: 140 TO 150 REAR TIRE
I've been told by plenty of people that a 160 will fit-- some say it'll fit with no modification at all others say you'll need to shave or remove the belt guard to fit it. But I haven't heard anyone say a 150 won't fit and that's my plan for my SG. Hope to have the work done in a couple of weeks.

RE: 140 TO 150 REAR TIRE
just had a 150 put on the rear today! had to modify the inner belt guard but nothing too hairy. they can do a 150 inmetzlers and avons.you also get better turning and grippy performance from these 2, but neither gets you the mileage of dunlops(stock). if you want dunlopsthey will outlast the previous mentioned while costing the least, but lack the road gripping performance. interesting the avon's were the more expensive of the three, they're softer and grab more but have the shortest life span. hope this helps

Keep in mind that the various years and possible changes between them may determine what fits which bikes. There is also a difference in one brand to the next in the same size tire. With that said I run a 150 on my 01 SERG and I will be going back to a 140. The 150 does not handle as well nor does it have the same weight rating (thus the wear). This is in an 18" Metzeler.

RE: 140 TO 150 REAR TIRE
After the stock Dunlop I put a 150 Avon on. I got 8,000 miles out of it. When we took it off there was signs that it did rub a few times. When the Avon died I went with a Metzler 880 in 160. The tire guy (Tomcat in Henderson) had to cut away a little of the belt guard. He did mention that my rear fender was one of the best centered that he has noticed.
