What digital camera
I know absolutley nothing about digital cameras. Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good camera that is easy for the wife to use while on the back ofbike, easy to operate and takes real good pictures. Something that is easy to throw in a pocket?
Any OLIMPUS point ,and shoot ,kodack makes some good ones too. Don't go crazy about getting the most Mega pixels, 5MP should be plenty unless you plan on blowing the pic up to over 8x10.
Kodak makes some nice ones that are easy to download the pictures to your PC and take great pic's, some even have the picture stabilzation built into them, and when you're not using it you put it on the dock hooked up to your pc you download from and it's always charged and ready to go to boot, great battery life too!
I bought the Sony Cybershot for the last trip the wife and I took to the Philippines to visit her family. This camera is exceptional in pic quality, and the size of the camera itself is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. The 3x Zoom is great also. I will say though it is very costly butI have never been unsatisfied with this purchase.
I have a Olympus FE-230 7.1 MP and it works AWESOME! Small enough to fit in your pocket and I paid less than $150 for it. Chek it out...

Olympus 790 is water and shockproof. I take it fishin, surfing, biking, and hunting. I taught photography for years and have a professional Nikon digital, but this camera is simple and excellent. Go to a good camera shop and ask a lot of questions. Don't go to a discount place unless you are educated first.

You WILL need to getmore "memory" for the cameraright off since the facory sells them with about enough memory for 20 pictures at the best resolution. So, figure on getting more memory (this is where the pictures are saved, until you get to a computer do download the pictures). Keep the camera oh the highest resolution....some haveoptions to downsize the resolution...which defeats the object of a high resolution camera.
Also, you may want to get additional or a beefy battery packbattery. Only if you are going to take a lot of pics, but if not then this is not required, since you can usually recharge the battery's from any power supply, like while you are having breakfast while on the road.
Then get a camera bag for your belt, so the camera is handy, ho digghing for the camera, easy to get out and then and snap away. Try to take 10 to 20...or more, pictures every day. Bythe end of your trip you will have a nice collection of pics.
Best thing about digital...if you screw up, you can delete the pic, and only print the ones you want to. Take more than one pic of the same scene incase one comes out blurred.
There is much to learn about what you are about toget into...kind of like a new hobby. Have fun and take lots of pics, in 5 or 10 years it is great to look back and remeber what and where you were, especially in the dead of winter.

I bought a Oregon Scientific Y2K Video cam. It uses interchangable Flash cards up to 2 meg, has sound and clamps to either your helmet, handlebars or can be hand held. Mounting hardware included. It's PC or Mac compatible. It takes movies in great color with sound if you want.
It measures about 5 inches long and 1 ½ " wide. It's also waterproof to 10 feet.
