I purchased a new 08 Electra Glide in February and now I need to sell my 05 Goldwing.

Is Craigslist a good place to sell?

Besides the normal stuff is there anything special to watch out for?

What have been your experiences with Craiglist?

I have bought a slightly used washing machine and a bicycle off the list. Both good experiences but its just like ebay, you gotta be carefull.

I listed a bike on there and got alot of spam. people trying to say i will send you a check for 10,000 dollars, just take the cost of shipping and the bike out and send me the difference. I was smart enough to see its a SCAM. If you do use it be VERY VERY careful. I am a LEO in NYC and have taken many reports for people bing ripped off from Craigslist. So I warn you USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION ...

I love CL, but you will get a lot of low ballers and tire kickers. I sold my truck there. I would put in the ad no low ballers and they would still show up so be prepared. Also make a point of stating local sale only, cash only scammers beware as I have a gun that I'm not afraid to use. You can't beat it for exposure and its free. I also use the Recycler www.recycler.com and cycle trader

 

I've bought and sold on CL. I bought a RK - got a nice bike at a good price locally. I also sold a car (among other things) on CL. No problems at all. Just be careful and it's no problem at all.

 

I've had good luck with bike parts. Tried to sell a snowblower on there once and had the old "I'll send you a cashiers check and extra money to pay the shipping company, any left over you send to me" thing. I wrote back and told him to go ahead and send it and have his "shipper" stop by to see me. The yellow house with a cruiser in the driveway. Funny, he never answered.

 

I have sold several things on CL, like all have said, be careful who you deal with.

 

I bought my Triumph Bonneville off of Craig’s list last year with no problems.

 

Guys, I use C-LIST ALOT......THE SECRET IS DONT put any personal info on your add!!!!!!! Make sure you tell them to leave a name and phone number and you will call them back!!!
You have to WATCH OUT for anyone who asks for your info before they give you there info... Make sure number is local area code!!! Alot of very good folks and DEALS on C-list..YOU Always have to be careful but it is a great way to BUY and SELL!!!!..... RW
