Default 2 questions.

Hey all.
Firstly, I noticed that when I turn my scoot on, the voltage sits at 12V, perfect...but when I start her up, the voltage jumps to 15V, and remains there while I ride.
On the bright side, it isn't dyin' on me, but I'm worried it's not being regulated properly, and the battery might get fried. Any thoughts?

Next, well, there's been a lot of bikes being stolen in my neck of the woods, right outta peoples driveways.
I picked up some python locks (braided cable with a rubberized coating) that lock with a key. I'm wondering just how much effort would be needed to cut something like that.

Thanks in advance for your time,
Enjoy.

Your voltage is doing exactlyas it should. Like it was said before, normal voltage is 14.7 VDC.

As far as someone steeling your bike... dont matter what you put on it or do to it. If they want it bad enough they will take it. I have full insurance on mine...

The battery holds 12V + or -. With the alternating generating current while running it should be 14.7 + or -. If the alternator quits alternating, you will see no voltage increase when you start it, and a gradual voltage decrease as the motor sucks the battery dry.

you can get the factory alarm if you dont already have it .
xena makes a disc lock with an alarm the more things they will have to disable will make a thief move on to something easier

Thats nothing a cheap set of bolt cutters get through. My friends w/g was lifted litteraly into a pickup at a local bar by 4 guys and gone in about 20 sec. Since then I have had fulllll coverage on everything paid for, cheap , expensive whatever!

I tried to cut the braided cable on one of those locks with bolt cutter, and a hack saw it was not a fast thing to do, I finally had to us a set of wire cutters to finish it off, I worked on it for a total of 20 minutes.
