Default Brake pad help

I have an 07 RG so my rear brake caliper is mounted to an arm that goes around the axle. Long story short, I don't want to remove the rear wheel just to change pads....

I loosened up my 2 pad pins on the rear. Then pressed back the "inside pad" away from the rotor with a putty knife. I only have 4,000 miles on the bike so it did not move much back much at all! The inside brake padwould NOT fall out. Should I remove my brake pins all the way so the pads fall out?
I thought I read somewhere that there was a spring in there and if I removed the pins all the way the spring would fall out too and then I would have to take the caliper apart to get it back in.........???

I want to just change pads to get rid of brake dust. Bought the Lyndall Gold Plus brake pads to put on.

Thanks,

Default RE: Brake pad help

Try lifting the rear tire off the ground and rotationg it as a way to free the pad.

Thanks, but already tried it. I had the bike up on my lift...........

Is there any problem with removing the pad pins all the way?

Default RE: Brake pad help

After you loosen the pins and push back the pads, pull the pad pinsonly far enoughuntil the outside pad is loose and falls out. Install the new outside pad and tighten the pad pins hand tight. Pump the brake so the piston holds the pad in place, and with a putty knife push the inside pads back to the piston. Remove the pad pins, and pull out the inside pad. Replace the inside pad, insert and tighten the pad pins, and you are good to go. Almost forgot, remove the reservoir cover before pushing the pads back. Hope this helps.
