Default Ultra Front End Feels Harsh

I recently switched from a Heritage to an Ultra, I can't figure out why I waited so long, this is a great bike.&nbsp\\; The Ultra front end seem to be stiffer than the Heritage.&nbsp\\; When I am on a roadway with bumps or ridges the front end hits hard and shakes the handlebars a bit.&nbsp\\; I'm not getting any wobble just a harsh jarring type hit.&nbsp\\; Was thinking the neck bearing could need adjustment or possibly a shock is bad, any ideas?&nbsp\\; Or is what I'm experiencing typical of the touring class?

It actually could be both the forks and shocks. IMHO the suspension on the torung bikes is set up to soft on damping. I am in the process of changing the shock oil from 5 weight to 10 weight. Do a search for "Improving Stock HD shocks" or TexasBowHunter for a thread on this process. I will also do the same to the forks. If we could only ride on nice newly paved smooth roads the stock suspension would be just fine, but in the real world there are plenty of potholes, expension joints and other sharp edged bumps out there that overwhelm the stock suspensions causing bottoming and a very harsh ride. A little more damping in the form of slightly heavier oil in the shocks and forks will help.

There are other solutions from the aftermarket but they can be very expen$ive.

It would be good if the oil helped, I didn't want something to continue if it wasn't normal.&nbsp\\; I'll give the oil a try when I have the fairing open.&nbsp\\; Any other items to try?

You might have too much oil in the forks.

How much did it cost to have the dealer change over to SE oil?
