I'm going to change the oil in 2012 Ultra Classic's stock air shocks in an attempt to improve the ride before dropping a pile of cash into new shocks. The problem is, I'm having a helluva time finding shock oil. I've found a couple sport bike dealers that have it in 3wt and only one dealer that has 10wt Honda shock oil but they're over an hour away from me. I was really hoping for some Belray 10wt or similar. Anyway, am I missing an obvious place to pick some up? I've tried all the local HD dealers, sport bike shops and auto parts stores. I know I can order on line but would like to change it this weekend and ordering on line will take time. Any thoughts would be great.
PS: If I can't figure something out I'll have to go with the Honda 10wt. I guess I'll just have to hop on the bike and ride an hour each way. Not all bad I guess...
I've watched that video and it looks easy enough. Now I'm just trying to find shock oil. It's proving to be no easy task. Not sure why. I'd have thought it would be pretty easy to get my hands on.
Well you have the Amsoil shock oil as in the video or you can go to HD and get the Heavy duty oil. Whatever you put in over the stock stuff will make a difference. IMO
good luck man hope it all works out for you.
Just changed the fork oil in my '15 RGS, and went with SE fork oil. Love it!
The funny part is that several of us, the GM, the Service Manager, and one of the parts guys, all changed, and we all love it. However, the senior service tech, ex pro drag racer, says it's "too stiff". Well, his opinion...
Really, give it a try. Cheaper than new cartridges or springs. Do NOT use the SE racing stuff. Waaaayyy too stiff.
all harleys suspension oils are for the forks.they claim there air shocks are not serviceable.the honda oil the way i understand it is made by showa, that is who makes the harley air shocks.amsoil make a 5 and 10 wt shock oil, belray has a good selection to.what ever you use make sure its for shocks and not forks, two different oils.changing out both oils is a cheap and effective way to improve your ride.

It's not something stocked by most retail stores. If you've a largish metric bike dealership, or the likes of a cycle-gear store, you'll have a better chance of finding it there, or being able to order it through them. Otherwise, it's typically a mail order item. Amazon carries it, as do most of the various on-line motorcycle gear stores.
