goutieboy, there's a lot of slop in the stock shift linkage. It was much easier for me to find neutral when I switched to linkage with heim joints. A really nice upgrade, and more durable than stock set-up as well. Just my .02

Try reving the engine up just a little, 1200 rpms. I just goose mine a little and goes right in.

I find it easier if I rock the bike a little while putting slight pressure
on the shifter to get it to go in. If you use too much pressure, it
will go right by neutral and into second (or first if you are shifting down)
I try to hit neutral before the bike stops, its much easier while the bike is moving.
Man, it nice to be able to post again!
whoopie!

A litle bit of rpm, not much and a little bit of clutch and it should just slip right in. It's even easier if the bike is still moving.
Amzoil in the primary and transmission will help also.
Two quarts of oil, it's worth trying.

Put AMSOIL in all 3 holes and it will surprise you. 20w-50w in engine and primary then 75w-90w in the transmission.
