That's too bad. I have a friend who works there in the parts department and he says the new owners are much nicer than the old.
Maybe it's just some of the old residue still hanging on.
Dickering on price is one thing, but if you tell someone you will call them, then call them. Professionalism pays off in more ways than 1.
For price alone, I don't know how you could beat Destination Daytona. Every time I have been in there they are the cheapest by far on bikes and accessories. Must be because of volume.
That is my un-scientific comparison of the local shop here in NC, Savannah HD, St Augustine and Dest Daytona.
I'm sure there are probably others that can or do beat them.

Let me get this straight. You guys call every dealership within 100 miles, ask for a price, then pit them all against each other, and then bitch when they hesitate to quote you a price? Let's pretend for a moment that you are selling your bike. Listed it in the paper and the internet. Some dude calls and leaves a message on your phone saying "Hey, I'm shopping for a bike just like yours and I've made an offer of every single one within 100 miles. My offer to you is $whatever$ - $1,000 less than you want for it. How anxious would you be to call this guy back.

I thought the shopping was done after St Augustine didn't call him back and when they did, were rude. I could be wrong.
A salesman's job is to sell bikes. Regardless of the rest of it, if you tell someone you'll call. CALL. It's like that in a lot of places nowadays. If you can't sell me something, be polite anyway. I don't mind people telling me 'no', but you don't have to be a jerk about it.

There is no recession in the bike business. They are flying out the door around here and with the cut in production they will hold onto their prices and they will be sold. How many dealers have closed their doors due to lack of sales? Nothing wrong with trying to lowball or get a good deal just don't expect to be treated like royalty Ken hit the nail on the head. I don't think they care if you buy that bike because someone else will. Keep hunting and you just might get that deal.
