Now THAT is one nice looking bike! Wow! I've been trying to talk myself out of getting an 09 SG, but you're not helping. LOL. Really nice!

Here is the little canyon I took her through to test the handling. Not exactly the dragon mind you, but hey, Its only 30 mins from home, and I was trying to beat a thunderstorm. (not successfully dammit!)

Nice looking bike, enjoy.
Im kinda iffy on the detach myself. In a way, it stands out MORE than the old setup, but in a way, less, as those two big loops that used to stick out the back are gone. They DO have little chrome magnetic covers for the bushings now, so thats something.

Im also betting some aftermarket company will come out with a complete cover for them, that somewhat restores the nice clean look that the new fender rails had before I went and mucked em up with those detach lugs.

But hey, its probably gonna have the trunk on it 99 percent of the time anyway. Had they been able to get the fixed mount parts for the 09's I probably would have just done that anyway. But they don't even have parts numbers for them yet.

"1. Dont ride an 09 unless your gonna buy one."

HAHA...agreed.

I rode one yesterday. The only thing remaining is to sell my metric cruiser before I sign on the dotted line.

They were nice enough to let ride a pewter one (I refused once...), and when I said I wanted a vivid black, they offered to let me drive off with that one and do a "dealer trade" when they get the black one.

Somehow, some way, I didn't.

At this point I am rethinking my decision...

Forgot one important thing.

The new gearing. I like it. It seems to be about spinning about 200-250 rpms higher in any given gear/speed than my 07. I cant speak too much on acceleration as my 07 was a stage 2 103", so it would not be a fair comparison. I can say, that 6th gear is MUCH more usable,(my 07 had an IDS on it, so thats not a new factor for me) and I found myself in sixth gear several times thinking I was in fifth. You can go into six easily at around 65 mph now, or even as low as 60 mph if there's not much load on the motor (easy cruise on a nice flat area) and it does not seem to be lugging or straining, although 60 mph is the low end as the motor is turning about 2200-2300 rpm at 60 in sixth gear. Doing 80 in 6th gear had me turning around 2900-3000 rpm. Overall, its lost that "this gear is just a BIT too tall" feeling my 07 had. So, another good change for the better IMHO.
