stabilizer question
i hear all about how a stabilizer helps in twisties or in long sweepers. does it help stabilize running straight ,at speed, on an interstate with windy conditions and or passing big rigs?
The stabilizers help at all speeds & in all riding situations. They take the soft/flexible feeling out of the frame while leaving the vibration dampening of the rubber mounts in place. One very noticeable improvement is at very low speeds. A frame that's not flexing is easier to balance, so low speed balance is improved.
You are going to have wind buffet no matter what you add to your bike. NO, it will not cure this when passing or being passed by a truck. Also, if your bike is a batwing, you will always have it. The stabilizer links are mainly for the sweepers where the rear wheel is flexed out of alignment. I have a Ridestr8, and in some sweepers when 2-up and at speed, I still feel a slight wallow, or wobble in the rear. Many factors cause the wobble in the curves.
What I have found out, when at speed and in the sweeper it is more obvious when a dip in the road in also introduced. This is where the pucker factor might show itself. It has happened to me after the install, but I was already inticipating it from pre-install.
Other than that, I am happy with the install. It does tighten up the bike/frame considerably.
