Default Newbie question

When I picked up my new 08 SG the service manager gave me a bag with a small box and a bunch of wires coming out of it. He told me to keep it in the bike in-case of a problem.

A friend of mine said I should have also had a disk to go with it. Is that true?
Is that small box the SERT? If not what is it?
Do you guy carry yours with you all the time?
Please explain!

Thanks!

The way the MoCo is going, it’s probably a bag of left over parts that was in the crate when it got to the dealer…

Does it look like this, without the disk?

When the SERT was first released, it shipped with module, CD, and cables. Then HD stopped shipping the cables, then later stopped shipping the CD.

It looks alot like that. It says Screaming Eagel performance parts on it. There is a USB cable that comes out of it and a cable that look like a weather pack plug and there is a red button on the black box.
And I didn't ask them what it was. MyBad! He told me that if I had trouble and when to another dealer they would need it.
I have been riding an 99 EVo so this is all new technology to me. Just trying to learn.

Thanks

Gee my first guess would be that it was your SERT.
