Default HD extended warranty, worth it?

Howdy,

I thinking of getting the extended HD 7-year warranty including the tire/tube. However, I'm beginning to wonder if it could be useless. The only change currently planned is a Stage I upgrade, everything else left stock. Maybe even just SE slip-ons & keeping the stock AC if Knight Rider gets the Xieds/Ieds working for the '09 FLH's. If I use the HD SC slip-ons & their AC/flash & installed by them (even though an dullard could do it)..is that considered a no-no by any reading of the warranty, extended or not?

I want no "wiggle room" in case the engine lunches a valve or something else they could blame on it being non-stock. I've been quoted $1287 for this warranty, although I haven't gotten a copy of it to read yet.

Thanks much,

geeded

It's like insurance... You hope you never have to use it... But it's there in case you do

Yep, that's my question. If I make the change above, will the warranty be there even if I have a problem on the road and not w/my local dealer?

Thanks, geeded

Seems like I remember a distance requirment to use selling dealer. The number that sticks in my head is if you breakdown within 100 miles of your selling dealer, you have to use them. But don't quote me on the distance although I know there is a requirment.

I'd be more interested in "what components" it
doesn't cover.
Riding buddy of mine had both front rotors warp on
his '08 S/G within 5k miles....and come to find out
they're not covered under warranty.....
Just more food for thought.....

I had it and used it on a Road King I had. Had a fluid leak that I couldn't stop. Ended up being a seal and apparently did something to the transmission that I wasn't aware of. Dealer completely rebuilt the transmission, cost me $50.

No it didn't! That repair cost you $50 plus the cost of your extended warranty!

I cashed mine in and am putting in a 95" kit. Consumer Reports says not to waste your money on extended warranties. Money makers for the seller.

I don't care if the seller makes money. I have put over 10,000 mi. on my 08 that I got in may. I'll have around 100,000 mi when the extended warrenty runs out. I get peace of mind and thats worth the 1,500 I spent. If you don't put but 4 or 5 thousand miles a year on your bike it's probely not worth it. But if you ride a lot it is.
