These problems sound so farmiliar. This vibration drives me nuts. I spoke with Gary Stroud who is a well know indy in the area and he told me he is seeing a lot of 96 TC's with excessive runout on the pinion shaft. I will check my fairing brackets. I noticed that my horn and air cleaner vibrate alot at highwat speeds.

HD has upgraded the horizontal brackets and I think the large verticals as well. I did a write-up on adding strength to the vertical brackets and after 18 months and one accident they are still solid. When I had an accident in Oct. 2009 I asked the tech about changing the verticals, which are the ones I modified, and he said my fix looked like a permanent solution, so we didn't replace them.

I'll bet you haven't seen this one. My wife complained of the exact same problem on her 2007 Ultra. A few test rides showed that the problem had nothing to do with the fairing, its mounting, or anything to do with non-engine related parts or issues. I changed the spark plugs and the problem dissappeared and stayed gone. The plugs had about 25,000 miles on them and the recommended change interval is 20,000 miles.

I' ve tryed different plugs, gaps etc. nothing. all of my brackets have been reinforced. changed my front mount. all with no change. still vibrates at 1500 - 2000 rpm, at any speed or stoped. smooth everywhere else. never did change the the torque on the front mount. still gotta try that. would like to find a good mech to allign the engine. one thing I thought might be the culprit in my case. I have 21g cams and true duels. maybe the combo is just enough to affect the harmonics in that rpm range. it's a thought.

Default Bad brackets

Yesterday the dealer discovered left bracket broken and one cracked. I had noticed bad vibration for quite some time.

My 2008 RG developed a similar problem to my wife's 2007 Ultra (see post #95, this thread) - excessive fairing vibration between 1700 and approx. 2300 RPM. Without checking for broken brackets, I changed the spark plugs (approx. 11,000 miles) and the problem dissappeared.
