Yessir! Friend of mine traded his `05 Ultra on a `08 Ultra SE thinking pretty much the same thing (that he would leave it alone)......so far he has put about $3k more into it; Rineharts, Race Tuner, chrome goodies, etc. I know damned well I wouldn't leave it alone either so I'll just keep my `03.....still looks good to me ! 10-4 on the damned 12 degrees.....had enough of this crap!

 

I said the same thing, should I just get a Screamin Eagle?
So I went to look at one.
Ya, Id be spending money on it too. Alot.
I know Ive already put $10K in mine. Could put another $10K in it.

 

I guess if you don't put a lot of miles on it and leave it alone for the most part - resale is probably better.

i vote for pimping the ultra. to me the screamin eagle just looks like they went nutso with the p&a catalog on chrome. this way, you get to choose which chrome piece gets put on, and which one is not important and get be left off. have the 103 done at time of purchase and it is covered by the warranty.

best of both worlds.

 

i bought my 08 Ultra because it had everything on it i liked. No mods needed because it was perfect. It wasn't until about two hours later that i found a couple things i needed..... or rather wanted for my scoot. Screaming Eagle....... you would want to add mods to it as well. Either one though, is a great ride.

Closer to -12 below here, but I like the idea of doing the things I like, as opposed to what the MOCO likes. But if I had the dough, I'd seriously consider a SE, if it came as a "Dark Ultra" or "Dark Glide"stripped down like a Street Glide. That'd be the BOMB!

 

You could do and Ultra up to a SE, but at a whole lot more money. If you got the cash go For a new Screaming Eagle, in a Class all by itself, nothing to change but pipes, fuel management and air cleaner.

 

SE have silver motors, no chrome inner primary, nor chrome calipers for the money.
