Default Now looking at Progressive 412's, any advice

I have been contemplating putting the rear 12 inch shocks on my 09 Road King to get more stability when stopped as I am vertically challenged at 5"8" and have short legs. I already have the reach seat and wear thick soled HD boots which get me close to flat footed.

My other concerns with making the switch are with handling/lean angles and bottoming out especially two up.

I know the FLHX's have the same shocks and have searched the forums and haven't found much on the topic. I haven't scrapped my floorboards yet and have ridden pretty aggressively, also have practiced low speed techniques without scrapping.

Not looking to go with Progressive 440's or Arnott, especially at the price. Most likely will look for take offs from a 09 FLHX if I do make the switch. Any input from others that have made this switch and or street glide owners with opinions about the ride and handling with these shocks are much appreciated. Thanks!

The ride will suffer for sure. My SG rear is way less plush than my Ultra was.hat inch makes a difference. They are heavy bikes and feeling secure at stops is probably worth it. JMO

I am thinking of switching to Works shocks but they are not cheap. How much are my 09 SG rear air shocks worth? They lower you up to 3/4 inch because the front is not lower. Yoy have to do both ends to get a full inch. I did it on my 98 RKC and it was fine. I think the seat helped. I am waiting for my Corbin seat before I switch shocks to taller ones.

I put the 12" street glide shocks on my RKC last year, also cut some foam out of my seat. I'm 5' 9" 150lbs and they work fine. Much better footing and a better feel being lower. Glad I did it. I ride two up only ocasionally and so far so good. I bought them on the forum I think for $50. Seemed to be a fair price. Good luck.

Default Dealer is steering me towards the Progressive 412's now...

Stopped by the HD dealership today to find out more about lowering my 09 RK. They had a few customer bikes with Progressive 412 shocks installed and both really seemed to like them. I sat on both with 12 inch shocks and it got me right where I needed to be in terms of ride height. I found these shocks online for 215 shipped, but before I pull the trigger, does anyone have any other feedback about these particular shocks.

Thanks

I have the 412's 11.5" on my 07 RKclassic and I am not light on my feet. No problems at all ride not compromised and no lean angle problems, I normally sharpen my floorboards on turns with stock shocks, and new lower ones.

I am in the same situation as you with a 27" inseam. I have the Reach seat, boots with taller soles from H-D and had the profile kits installed front and rear. I have not scraped floorboards yet. Ride comfort is not gauged by the length of the shock but by how much air you have in your shocks. I rode my scoot before and after the swap and the ride was no different. Changing the air pressure made all the difference in how plush my ride was.

HD has those new profile low touring shocks for $280. They will lower your seat height up to 3/4". They are stock on the 09 street glides so they can't be that bad.

Why don't you call Phoenix Custom/Bagger Brace. They will take your stock shocks and lower them for you . I Had them lower my Street Glide shocks and they work great. The Air Pressuse makes the ride plush. It wil take about a week.....Good Luck

Yes, I too had Phoenix Customs lower my stock 13's to 11 1/2. Took the wife out for a spin around town (without any air) and they still didn't rub. Only cost $187.00 shipped back to you.
