We use Ram mounts to hold heavy keyboards in trucks. They don't budge. Pretty much sold me on what to buy to hold my Iphone. Lots of options to hold anything secure.

I bought the RAM mount for my Iphone 4 which I have in the Otter Box. Great quality and functionality. I'll post a pic of it later tonight when I get home. Think it was $90 installed at Americaide.

Yup --- RAM Mounts. I have one on my Ultra. Used it on my Classic also (before I got the Ultra) I have an Ipod touch. Not the phone ---- just an Ipod, but they'll have one for the phone too. Works great. It's on the left handlebar, and I bought a 12"cord at Radio Shack that's a perfect length. Cord with a male at each end, to plug from the Ipod to the dash.

Here's the one I have... you need to have a belt clip for the iPod to use this, but it looks good. http://images.search.yahoo.com/image...mb=PgnpZSn3oRC

Agree, however the iPhone is not only a phone, but a computer and a decent GPS unit (if you don't have a real GPS unit) plus a thousand apps that can help a guy on a bike if you get in trouble. It's probably best kept in the pocket for a couple of reasons:
-It does not like heat...it WILL shut down in summer temps in direct sunshine...and it does not take long either.
-You CANNOT see the display in direct sunlight...no not at all.

These were the two main complaints I had about my iPhone on my bike during a 16 hour ride earlier this year. I now use a Zumo 550 and will never look back. Hate ANYTHING on the handlebars, so my Zumo is mounted on the Kury Fuel lid mount...neat gadget.

However if you are dead set on trying your iPhone on your bike, there is a really good waterproof case available...custom made for the iPhone...and designed for bicyclists. Yep, that's right, but don't discount it yet. Here is the url so click and check it out:

I rode in 4 hours of hard rain on I81 and no leaks. The iPhone performed perfectly, and I powered it from the Ultras cig lighter plug through a hole in the bottom of the case. This case mounts to your handlebars with a quality, heavy duty rubber ribbed clamp. You can orient the case landscape or portrait and back again. It's very low profile. These are shipped to you directly from Taiwan and you will get it in 3 days via fedex! It comes with 2 silicon backings with one fitted for an iPhone 3 and the other for the iPhone 4. Anyway, that's my two cents on the iPhone. Great device, but maybe best left in your pocket.

Here is how I mount mine. Simple, cheap and effective. I have an otterbox defender, and do not use the belt clip, so I used zip ties and mounted it to my handle bars. no movement or any fear that it will fall off.

I can see and hear my GPS and can run my music function, while using GPS, music mutes when a direction is spoken.
