how many hours of labor did u get charged?
 

The dealer has my bike installing a 103" stage ii kit. They were offering a discounted hourly labor rate for a few months. They are charging me 10 hours labor to do the install. I thought i have read some of you guys saying that you were charged 8 hours. This should be a set number of hours. they reduced there normal shop rate of 70 per hour to 59.50 per hour. 70 X 8 is 560$ 59.50 x 10 is 595$ am i a dummy or what?

8 hours is what I was told today by my indy....

If they truly do good work wouldn't get too bent on 2 hours labor .. rather pay 600.00 once and never have to worry than 400.00 and have problems, then always worry thereafter..

i agree jay, i just dont want to be taken advantage of.

I was quoted 10hrs as well for my 95" upgrade. Iam sure some has to do with, what all you are having done.

My Indy charges 6 hours...and he actually gets it done in about 5.

Then again, he's a wrench. Those guys at dealerships are for the most part, fresh out of MMI.

I have been quoted 10 hrs when doing big bore + cams. Big bore = 5 and cams =5. Both dealers and indy's have quoted the same hours so I guess that what the "book" shows.

wow dealer here in Canada charges 10 hours at $110 /hour Cdn. plus 3 hours for dyno
$1500 total, about $1200 US

I guess the cams, clutch upgrade, tuner, exhuast, air cleaner, and the rest all just happen after the 5 hrs. Iam tired of the "my Indy is better than your HD mechanic" line. My HD mechanic builds for the V-rod racing team, that has won several titles, so I think he knows what he is doing.

I'd say you're both right. Evey shop has a master and a bunch of wanna-be's. Some have specialized tuners, while others don't. That's why it pays to check around.

Some are lucky to have VRod builders, while others have run of the mill Cert. H-D mech's.

I'm lucky to have all of the above (except the VRod thing) within 50 miles of me.
