Default Heel Guards For Touring Models?

I searched the threads and didn't come up with what I was wondering. Carl Miles heels guards, Dr. boot. What other heel guards are there for Harley touring models? Which one is the best? These 2 are a bit flimsy. I'm also not too keen on drilling out my stock Harley footboards. Any actual experiences?

I'd like to find the same type of info, size 12 boot aned constantly hitting the pipes. I'm going to add a floorboard spacer this weekend if it rains and then the heel gaurds if the info that pops up here is positive.

I'm interested also, I have the floor board spacers and they help with the comfort but I still get my heel against the pipes alot.

I installed this one from Carpenter Creek. I didn't like the idea of drilling into my floorboards, but it was pretty easy to do and not noticable at all. This design turns down at the end preventing your pant cuff from getting caught.

They are rather simple to make and very little to make $$$ wise. I was entertaining this idea but then after seeing how they work I decided against it. They connect to the bottom of the fb. Since I am not planning on dropping the bike but it could happen. The floor boards hinge upward. When the heal guards are in place and the floor board comes up the heel guard will make contact with either the pipes (ouch) or something else like the chrome timing cover (another ouch)
Instead of heel guards I went to spacers that move the fb out. HD should do this from the factory.

I bought mine from Eastern Performance. Not much to them and I thought the price was high. About 60$. Easy install and they work!

These look and install exactly like the Carl Miles ones. I believe dirtdobber is correct. Atleast for now, until they come out with something better I believe the only solution is the spacer option. (Unless someone here has a better idea). He has a good point, if the floorboard does ever touch the ground, 'it will' dig into your pipes and will bent it beyond re-use. Harley does sure take it's sweet *** time advancing on it's accessories. I'm waiting for them to come out with their own version of the Klock Werks windshield. They already copied the McCuff fuel funnel, the "Fuel-N-Go". I think sometimes we spend way too much money on accessories for our Harley's, way too much!

I bought one on eBay from krome4hogs for $28, and I think he regularly posts them on there. Good chrome, bolt right on, and it works well. Search for Harley heel guard.

Thanks for the advice, didnt even think about what it could do to the pipes, do you think it would still hit with the spacers???

Just wanted to let all you guys know that Carpenter Creek is renewing production of the heel guards referenced above. They should be available sometime in February of 2013. More info is available at: http://carpentercreek.us/product.sc;...5&categoryId=1
