Caution!!! Be careful using a center stand
First let me state that what I'm about to say is not meant as an indictment against center stands. I'm posting this as a personal experience that might help out a fellow rider.
This evening I was snapping my tour pack back onto its quick release brackets, while the bike was sitting upright on its center stand. In doing so, I ended up exerting a little too much forward pressure on the bike, and actually nudged it forward enough to ease it off its center stand, even though first gear was engaged, and the bike was on a flat, concrete floor. Needless to say, I couldn't do a thing about it since I had the tour pack in both hands. My third arm just wasn't handy, and I was standing at the very rear of the bike. So, it just rolled onto its left side. I always take off the hard bags before taking off or putting on the tour pack, so the bike just rested on the engine & bag guards. Thank goodness nothing was scratched, or bent, but it sure gave me a good scare.
Once again I'm only posting this as a warning as to what can happen when using a center stand, even when reasonable precautionary steps have been taken. I have really enjoyed my center stand, and I will continue to enjoy it. However, I will block the wheels front and back whenever I think I may accidentally push the bike forward while working on it.
