Default Thread About Riding Reminders

I hope that this thread will contain reminders of what we can do to our bikes for safe riding...

Here's mine...

Check the fasteners on your shift linkage and make sure that they are tight.

I just kick the tires and check the pressure once in a while and before trips. Everything else is done when I change the oil.

I do a complete circle check of the bike before a ride, a result of my professional driver training.

I start the bike up and as it's warming up a bit, I hit the 4 way flashers and do a walk around.
Kick the back tire to check air (I do a pressure guage check once a month as well).
Check rear blinkers (flashing) and tail light.
Step on brake pedal to check brake light. Pull front brake lever to check light.
Look at front blinkers and headlight.
Kick front tire.
Flip hi beam switch. Test horn.

Easy but very important stuff to check.

I simply remind myself to pick my feet up when I depart and put them down when I stop.

Never lost a foot yet.

Make sure you have a fully charged cell phone before riding and let someone know your plans if your going out riding alone

I havent had professional driver training but 2 things help us to decide some of what we do. The first is common sense and what the manual may say, the second is knowledge learned from problems in the past that we have had.

I have had issues with the bolts on my rear pulley so before I go on a long ride I have added that to my check list.

Would love to hear more ideas
