Default Mustang Solo seat on an Ultra

I had the Mustang Ultra on my FLHTCUI. I lost >75 lbs and my butt started swimming in the seat. I want to go back to Mustang and started looking at the plain solo with driver backrest seat from Mustang. This is Mustangs Road King 1997 -up seat that can also be mounted on an FLHT. I understand that it doesn’t set you far back in the saddle and is comfortable.

I have a question for FLHTCUI (Ultra) owners that have mounted a Mustang Plain Solo with Driver Backrest seat (p/n 79102 or 79100). Does the horn/nose (front end) of the solo seat extend far enough to contact the CB Intercom fuel tank console? If the seat doesn’t extend far enough, how did you deal with that problem? Thanks for any replies.

get part number 79107 (studded) or 79127 (plain). They are made for an electraglide.

Maybe, but the FLHTCUI has a different tank console. The end of the tank console is aprox. 5 inches from the end of the tank. The back tank console screw is apox. 4 inces from the end of the tank. The tank console is shorter for the FLHTCUI. It's not as long as the the FLH's or FLTRI tank consoles.

I need to correct myself. The fuel tank consoles for the FLHT’s (Electra Glide) and FLTRI (Road Glide) are the same length. The end of the tank console is aprox. 5 inches from the end of the tank. The screw that is on the back of the tank console is aprox. 4 inches from the end of the tank.

The FLHX’s (Road King) and FLHR (Street Glide) fuel tank consoles are the same length. The end of the tank console is aprox 1 inch from the end of the tank.

Can someone with a FLHT and either the Mustang 79102 or 79100 (Mustang Plain Solo with Driver Backrest seat) please post a picture of your seat and tank. I would like to see the gap which lies between the end of the tank and the front of the seat. Someone told me that it was butt ugly and that is why he opted not to install the Mustang solo seat on his Ultra.

The 79107 and 79127 are similar to the 75449, which I sold. It was too wide (17") and too long. The 79102 or 79100 are an inch narrower (16") and it sits me closer to the bars. I sat on a 79102 on a Road King and it fit well. My inseam is 30", though my height is 6'1". I tried calling Mustang about the gap on an FLHT. He told me that he knows of that gap that I'm talking about but that they didn't have any pictures.

txultra,

Which model of Mustang seat is that? The nose of the seat makes it appear to be Mustangs 79127 seat and not the 79102 or 79100.

I can't answer your question, but congrats on losing 75lbs.

I though so. I might just settle on the Corbin HD-FLH-6-S saddle. I'm not happy about hard seats that need to be "brokin-in". The Corbin is also "real" leather and that's a PLUS and minus. Hollister is just ~90 miles from my house and that's a plus. I wonder if there are any discounts for Corbin seats?
