$15.00 worth of oil??? Just change it... If oil sits in a sealed bottle it stays pretty stable...Once you expose it to air it starts to deteriorate....Again $15.00 for all 3 cases??? No brainer compared to the price of the bike.

Both new and used cars/bikes often sit at dealerships for months and months at a time before selling. I wonder if dealers change the oil every 6 months to keep the evil acids from eating the oil pans off. I doubt it.

You can buy Valvoline motorcycle Vtwin oil for about $4.00 a quart and 2 quarts of transmission fluid from a aftermarket shop for about the same price...Paying the full HD price is crazy...I change my own fluids...With this bike i get deals as often as i can like now they are running a special at Advance auto $30.00 for 5 quarts of Mobil i oil and a filter...just get the v-twin oil and a car filter...OK it's about $20.00 for all 3 holes..$15, $20 or $30 for 3 holes... it's better than paying some schmuck at the dealer $130.00. Right?

Ha Ha!! I wish I could ride to work!! Unfortunately or fortunately, I work out of home so no chance on that. At this rate, by the time I do get this bike broken in, I'll probably want to trade it in on something else.

On another note... Thanks to everyone that responded. I think I'll go with the consensus and get the oil changed in all three holes with synthetic. As quite a few of you all have said, it's "cheap insurance."

Thanks for all the input.

I wouldn't change to synthetic yet. Need some more miles on it before you do that.

Thanks SG for the suggestion... At what mileage would you recommend I switch to synthetic?

you can put synthetic in, the bike will be fine. harley ships the screaming eagle models from the factory with their synthetic oil. your bike will thank you. and dont buy that HD Syn3 crap, it is not a true synthetic, but a blend. buy a good quality synthetic, Mobile 1, Amsoil, royal purple, something like that.
