Default Riders with Zumo 550's

Are you experiencing any glitches with the 550? Seeing as the 450 is discontinued, how come the prices are going up? $320.00 around Xmas, $480.00 + now. 550's are cheaper than this on ebay. Any ideas?

I've had my 550 for two years and it died after about a year. Had to send it back to Garmin on my nickel($43 w/insurance) and wasn't happy about that since it was under warranty. They sent me back a refurbished unit and no problems since.

I've not had any real issues with mine. the 660 is out and cheaper than the 550, but i like what i have, and am comfortable using it.

I have had my 550 for about 6 months and have not had any issues with it.

I've had a Zumo 450 for two years without any problems.
My buddy stopped by over the weekend to diagnose problems with his overpriced HD Roadtech (Garmin 550). It would not detect power from the bike so it only operated on internal battery power. No MP3, Bluetooth, fuel gauge or spoken directions. Mine worked in his mount so the mount is OK, but his didn't work on my mount either either. Teminals are all clean so it's the unit.

Now the zinger, Garmin warranty says 1 year from date of purchase, but the warranty page in the Roadtech manual says 6 months. My bet is Garmin will cover it but it shows another reason to stay away from the MOCO branded GPS.

My guess is the high prices for the Zumo 550 through retailers is an effort to get you to buy the Zumo 660. At the same list price, that's the smart option.

It seems to me the 550 has slowly fallen in price. I love mine. No complaints. It works well.

I have had the problem where it wouldn't detect the bike power and I removed and reinstalled the battery and it fixed it. But, I have had to replace 2 cradles under warranty. I've had mine for almost 2 years now...
