Default Internal fairing antenna

Has anyone installed one of these internal fairing antennas that you see on e-bay? The one I see allows the use of the weather band. The issue I have is it comes with a 36" long cable and I think that is too long. All that extra cable would be rolled up in a clutter inside the fairing. They offer a 12" long cable and I think that would be long enough but, dont' know, what do you guys think?

I have one , I got it at either PEP Boys or Autozone.. It is powered and has the 36" long cable, I wrapped it around the gauges in the fairing and zip tied it & used a little black duct tape to keep it in place, I am able to use the weather band & do pick up most of the stations in the area that I like. I will say it does not work as well as the Whip, but I usually listen to MP3 cds. when I do need the radio, it works fine. Hope this helps u a bit.

Installed one I got off of ebay 2 or 3 weeks ago and it works fine.
Came with a long cable, just rolled it up & zip-tied it to a bracket.
Glad to be rid of the whip.

I installed a Tune Trapper. Lousy reception when tucked in the fairing but worked great hanging by the wheel. Didn't really live up to my expectations. It's in a landfill now.

Same here. I just just rolled it up and zip-tied it to a bracket. Works as good as the whip.

My brother has one on his bike and doesn't really care for the kind of reception he gets...

Got the Ebay one here. $22.95 works great. WB too. Extra cable is zip tied in a nice bundle the size of a bic lighter. No muss, no fuss, works great.

I'm trying to figure out how to use both internal or tour-pak one when on and think this will work. Peb-Boys has a 4 ' antena wire extension that I would run fr radio dn to the neck somewhere and then run the two antena wires dn to it. When tour-pak off I plug the ampliefied antena wire in and vice versa. Has anyone done this? Or Could they both be connected together under the fairing and just hook up the tour pak antena at the pak when it's on for better reception? Any ideas ?

You wouldn't happen to have a part number, would you?

44UA20 - Its a METRA amplified Antenna - I just checked out Autozone & Pep Boys, I dont see it anymore on the site. I went in the store and asked them. It was Autozone.
