Default 09 Street Glide Shocks

Love my Street Glide...Just one issue and I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing it. I realize the bike is a low profile bike. However, the rear shocks even with added air in the shocks will bottom out even on small bumps even with no passenger.

I had the same issue with my 08 Street Glide. Along with that issue and other factors I traded for the Ultra. The Street Glide is a awsome bike. It just wasn't for me.

Same issue here so different from my RKC thinking I need to get a Ultra to make the wife happy or another RKC.

Default shocks bottoming

I hated those stock air shocks, so I bought a set of Ohlins from www.motorcyclemetal.com $500.00 w/ HDforums discount and it rides awesome. He will set up the shocks for your weight and riding style. If you need a set of 13" air shocks, I have a pair off of a road glide that I will swell you. Let me know, Shjaun

I highly recommend the Ohlins shocks, changed everything about the ride on my '08 FLHX. Shaun

Same is true on all 09 touring models, Streetglide is a little worse because of the lower shocks. Looking for some reasonable after markets myself, they are just shocks, should not be $1,000.00 or even $500.00.

If your only complaint is the ride quality, you can always put on the standard height shocks like the Ultra has, which will raise the rear 1". I had street guide shocks on my Ultra and hated the ride, always bottomed out.

Heck I bet you could find someone to trade your street glide shocks for standard length shocks. Everyone thinks they need to lower the rear of their touring bike until they keep bottoming out and loosing lean angle in the turns, been there done that.

What do you weight and what pressure are you using? Are you following the 09 pressure recommendations in the manual. Before blowing the bank on unnecessary add-on I would adjust the pressure with a low volume pump with gauge.

Also go with the 09 manual recommendation if you have an 09 the is a significant difference this year and the shocks work well.

09 Streetglide here also -
I find the stock rear shocks bottom out also. I have the HD shock hand pump which works very well, and I have adjusted the psi all the way up to 50 psi and still bottom out. I weigh around the 250 mark, and I have only ridden 1-up so far, and I would like to get it better so I don't have to whince everytime I go over a bump. I came off of a softail, and I can remember all too vividly how that suspension was (ouch)!

I am going up to the dealer on Saturday and ask them their opinion on this....
