the CB is on the starboard side, the stereo is on the port side.

left right
port starboard
red green

I have to take my antennaes off to store my bike in the cycle shell, I don't ever pay attention to which one goes where. So far I havn't seen any decrease in fm reception no matter which antennae is where. Havn't tried the cb yet. good info though

Doesn't matter both antennas are the same...As with J and M, they are all multi-functional...Ive had them reversed too.

The key to the CB is the "loading coil" in the trunk...If your Shorties screw on to both terminals you are OK..

However, Right is Right and Left is Wrong

Now I got it, thanks. It's also the side that the throttle is on right?

Good thing I have a boat too.

If they are both the same (they do look to be), why does one of mine specify FM and the other CB near the base? From reading the HD parts site for shorty antennas. it seems there is a a "loading coil" required pre-2008 but not is for 2009 and later?

This reminds me of the guy who was sitting on a horse facing toward its rear end. When someone told him he was facing the wrong way he stated "how do you know which way I want to go?".
