Default First Service

Picked up the Ultra Saturday from getting it's first service. I did find out that I do in fact have the 25 degree injectors so that was good. Not to launch a oil debate but I had them put in the Syn3 and I can't believe how much cooler it runs. Huge difference. All in all a good experience.

Question for the forum. Could not find answer anywhere else.

I am about to have my 1000 mile service. My question is, can I buy the oil I want them to put in the bike instead of having them put in the Syn 3. I dont want to void anything out. I have heard good things about Amsoil and wanted to buy the stuff and have them put that in instead... What are eveyone's thoughts.

Also, I see there are different types of Amsoil. Do I need to buy different types for different applications, ie, Tranny etc...or will the 20w50 work in all three? Do some of you used differnet weight oils in other parts of your bikes. If so, tell me what works best for each of you that respond.

Thanks...

having first service this Friday, service manager advised if I change the oil every 3000 miles, to run regular oil. He said the Syn 3 was noisy.

Anyone notice their bikes a little noisy after change to synthetic????

I too am nearing the 1000 mark for my first service. Everyone tells me to ABSOLUTELY switch all the fluids over to synthetic; they said I'll definitely notice the engin running cooler.

My dealer lets me bring the fluids of my choice. I've run synthetic for years......Mobil 1 15w-50 and Amsoil. BelRay in the transmissions. Before HD made synthetic, the mechanics used to say it was "too slippery" and poo-poo'd the use! Having my 20K service tomorrow, and my choice of fluids are in my saddlebag.....
