Anyone using Harley's Quest Road Tech?

Is it a Quest or a Quest II?

Sold my 2610 and was thinking of picking up a Road tech. I have a IQue 3600 but it's not waterproof.

Like the size of the quest..can you download the HD POI's into a non-Harley quest??

Thanks

ps, if I email someone a picture can you resize and post into signature line??

The MOCO is a Quest. I have the Quest II from eBay about $500. Bought the MOCO's mounting stuff and it works great (anothe couple hundred). I like the fairing mount because of the reduced vibration I can read it (although I don't recommend staring at it) easily at any highway speed.

Wow...sold the 2610 and want to go smaller and give up the touch screen? I would like to hear your reasons for dumping the 2610 as i thought it was supposed to be the best unit for bikes. Thanks.

I use the quest II. It has the entire US in it. You can download Harley Dealer POI files for the Dealer locations.

The big advantage of the Quest (and Quest 2) is that they have a battery built in.
You get somewhere and want to take it off the bike and explore, you can.
The battery can be good for up to 20 hours.
The 2610 only works when connected to the bike, no battery.

Touch screen is great, until your looking through a bunch of finger prints...Screen is clearer on the Quest..battery operated if you want...small to take off bike and slip into pocket..take it with you.....can use unit in resturant, plan routes, waypoints etc..again battery....less abtrusive on the bike....

All this being said, the 2610 was a great unit, never a problem, great in the car with the remote....just want to try something different. May end up trying out the 2720 with 3d veiwing....

If my IQue 3600 was waterproof, I would go with anything else, great unit, palm and gps ....clear screen, easy to see.

You can download the hd file to any of the units. Depending on which unit you have there may not be room for all of them though. I have the file and will e-mail it to anyone thats interested. It took some playing with to get it into my computer right the first attempt put them all in the middle of the ocean and second attempt were all in the artic circle but third times a charm!

I currently have a gpsmap60c and it is a great unit, although if I were buying new I'd look at the quest 2 or atleast the gpsmap60cx with the removable memory. The 60cx runs off of AA batteries or can be pluged in to a cigarete lighter is waterproof for 30 mins but will need to purchase the mapsource product so might come out to the same cost.

Although I do think the quest 2 gives a much cleaner instalation

Be careful with the Quest from Harley. The Unit is rock solid, as far as I have seen, but the mounting cradle has a small problem. My dealer has had to replace 3-4 of them in the last 2 months due to the locking clip breaking off the unit when you hit a bump in the road. The clip is held in place by 2 small plastic pins moulded into the locking clip. thats all that holds it onto the bike, and they both broke on me. I was fortunate enough to catch my unit when this happened, so it was only a matter of replacing the cradle, but I would have cried like a baby if I had missed that catch and the unit had hit the freeway at 75 MPH... My dealer tells me they are coming out with a new mounting system for the roadtech quest. Check it out before you buy..

they have a new mount for the handlebar but i had thought they fixed that other problem. I know alot of people will add a tether to it just as a precaution.
