Question Has anyone removed the passenger backrest?

I'm probably gonna get a new Ultra Limited, but I've never liked the look of the passenger backrest sticking up back there. I never ride two up and I was wondering if anybody has just removed the backrest and put plastic or chrome plugs in the bolt holes. As far as I can remember, I've never seen or heard of anybody doing this particular mod.

Seems like a simple and straight forward job. Also I was wondering about possible paint damage/scuffing under the backrest.

Thanks in advance for any info/opinions/advice etc.

Don't know if it'll help, but I ordered my tour pack without a backrest, then ordered the chopped tour pack backrest. The dealer argued with me, but did what I insisted on. I eventually adapted the chopped backrest to my tour pack, but if you get the tour pack without the backrest there should be no paint damage, & you can plug the pre-drilled holes with inexpensive plastic plugs from your local hardware store.

The mounting holes for the backrests are completely different.

Here is where the "Chopped Tour Pak" mounts. Now the "King Tour Pak" has some holes for the arm rests on the outside of that indented area.

Yes I do, it's right before my wife shows up to see her getting on.
