09 Ultra Security shut down
I have the 09 Ultra Classic with factory security system, no siren. I was demonstrating the security system the other day to my neighbor and told him that if someone came by and hijacked the bike from me, that he would not get far as it won't run if the FOB is not within X feet of the bike. So I started it and then walked about 30 feet away from the bike with the FOB in my pocket. I thought it would shut down, but it didn't.
So at what distance should it shut down if started with the FOB on my person?

Once it's running, it will stay running. The fob will only inhibit starting the bike. A good reason not to leave the fob in the bike.
Read the manual closely and reset the pin number of the system just in case you must override it someday. Then carry the promp card so you will know the procedure on the road.

That's the pisser about the fob, if the keys are on the bench near the bike you can start her up and ride away without it, and not even know until you try to re-start her 30 miles from home without the fob!
Like the other's said, make sure you re-program the default security code and practice disarming the bike with it - just in case!

I decided it was time to go ahead and try out the security code... boy am I glad I practiced. 2 things went wrong...
1. I dscovered my pin was not what it was supposed to be; ooops. I made adjustments
2. I need practice... press that right blinker once and you have got to start all over again... and again... and again... and again
OBTW... don't leave your keys in the down fairing lock and speed off... LMAO
