Grrr - so I have a paint blemish of the lid of the Tour Pack - this shouldn't have made it out of the paint shop but it's not the worst.

The really disturbing thing is that the primary cover is leaking quite badly. Oil on the garage floor, oil on the left muffler. Not only that but the bolt closest to the leak has clearly been over tightened (tool damage to the hex head). From which I conclude that someone noticed the leak and did a truly half assed attempt to fix. From everything I can tell from the dealership (they seem extremely thorough) this likely happened at the factory . . .

Checked the oil level and I'm good to ride back to the dealer for a warranty repair but really!

Also - I'm already seeing rusty stains along the bottom of the swing arm.

Was it a dealer trade? If not did the dealer actually put the bike together, some M/C dealers hire it done by outside companies, don't know if HD dealers do this but I know for a fact some Honda/Yamaha etc dealers do this to save $

Nope - bike arrived at the dealer last Wednesday from the factory and I took delivery that evening.

was the paint blemish repaired under warranty? I just received my tour pack via ups this week and noticed 2 very noticeable blemishes on the lid. looks like a spec of dirt was painted over. the blemish is pointed and rough to touch. my concern is if the paint will flake and peel off or not later down the road. 1 of the blemishes is between the two hinges. and the other is now hidden by the seat back rest (this blemish doesn't concern me).

I doubt i have much recourse as I bought the tourpack on line through one of the HD dealers offering discounted pricing. other than the 2 blemishes the tourpack is in fine shape.

The new 2011 Road King Classic I recently bought had a blemish in the clear coat located on the rear fender. The sales manager saw it immediately when I mentioned a blemish in the paint so it was fairly obvious. He said that isn't acceptable and had the bike sent to a local body shop. They were able to repair it. No sign anything was ever amiss. Excellent support from my dealer. Still, it should never have left the factory that way.

as was pointed out in another thread...it's all about hedging your bets. spend 1X to get it out the door and maybe 5% will come back or spend 10X to get it out the door and maybe 3% will come back. If I go the 1X route and fix your problem when you complain, plus throw in a t-shirt, Im still 9X ahead.

Would have been nice to catch it at delivery but sometimes your pre occupied with the purchase.
Maybe your dealer will fix it.
