The HD chrome lowers kit came with the large round axle end covers which I exchanged for these. I prefered these to the round ones solely based on cosmetics. Installation wasn't difficult, the chrome seems to be good, and they look exactly like they do in the HD catalog:

You should probably consider the flush mount axle products available if you are considering alternatives. I didn't spend much time looking at them, again, for cosmetic reasons.

I've got the HD ones on mine. I see Russ Wernimont Designs has a similar one for double the HD price.

cuda, it's pretty simple. They're like a clam shell covering the axle and bottom of the forks with two allen head screws securing the parts together. You assemble the shell (two pieces on the wheel side of each fork and one piece on the outside of the fork) then install the two screws from the rear side.

The instructions were pretty good--should take maybe five minutes a side once you've read the instructions and identified the parts that go on each side. IIRC, the kit includes locktite. I thought it was pretty clever the way the parts fit together and are secured with the screws making it difficult to see the screws.

Digging the look of the covers. Much better than the plan chrome round ones I currently have. Going to have to look into these.
