Mine is at the dealer right now getting the big bore. I have an extended warranty, that's why they are working on it. My dealer has always been good to me. I have been running HD Synthetic since 1K, I now have 10k on it. I had the talk with them about changing to dino for the break in but they said that since I have synthetic in it, they will put that back in after the dyno run. It will be broke in on the dyno. Since they hold the warranty, and they say it's fine to do, I'm fine with it.
I know this is a touchy subject and the answer will depend on which "genius" you talk to. The way I see it, everybody can't be right because I still see Fords, Dodges, Chevy's etc on the road.

I'd think what everyone is suggesting is using a relatively inexpensive motor oil, changed frequently during the first 1000 miles (to flush contaminaints out of the engine) and THEN starting it on synthetic as best. I picked up my bike last January 10th (12 degrees out) and managed to put a bone chilling 28 miles on it before I got home (dealer is 3 miles away) I immediately changed the oil (Castrol 15w40) ran it to 500 mile, changed it again and ran that to 1000 where it got it's first change to Mobil1 15w50. It's got 18,800 on it now and is running strong (thanks FuelMoto!!)
