Getting a new key?
So I lost my key to my 2004 Road King, but I do have my spare so now I just have the one. I want another, how do you go about getting the key code? vin, number somewhere on the bike?
If you want to get one through the dealer, they will come as 2 keys only so it will cost you about $23. You bring your registration into the dealer to prove ownership and they run the VIN and get the key code and order the keys for you.
If you slide the black plastic cover on the key back, the key code is stamped on the key, then you can order like r8rs4lf said if that turns out to be cheaper. You may even be able to order just the keys through the discount dealers. Either way, you should record that number and put it in a safe place just in case.
Thanks guys, I just spent the last 2 hours looking everywhere I could think of, I usually keep it on a key rack on the end and when we went for a ride today it was gone, I am usually very careful. May have fell and made it into something that got trashed. I will try a locksmith on Monday with the spare.

good luck with a locksmith.
I tried several in my area and was told it took special equipment to duplicate the keys and no one around here was able to dupe it.
Ended up having my dealer order a set for me.

It's an ACE lock. Go to an OLD locksmith. They new ones won't have the key machine for them. They used to be very popular when every alarm used them. Now with digital keypads they are rare as bikers without tatoos. My local guy gets 7.50 to cut one. (I used to carry a tubular key cutter on my service truck.)
I had to order replacement keys for my V-Rod from a dealer and when they came in they did not have the black plastic covering. I was told that replacement keys do not come with the covering. Just FYI.
