Default Cam chain tensioner shoe inspection

Greetings everyone, many years ago I purchase the touring "fix my hog" DVD for my 2001 Road King. There's a lot of good info. The part 2 touring DVD that has come out has really nothing that I can use from it, except the part about the cam chain tensioner shoe inspection. The DVD would be great if I had a later model Road King. I would hate to buy the DVD for only a couple minutes. If anybody has some info on this it would be greatly appreciated. Torque specs. etc...
Thanks ~Gas4Harley~

There have been a bunch of posts on cam chain tensioners lately. It is a very good idea to inspect the tensioners on the pre-07 models. The earlier models seem to get a lot of wear more quickly than later models. Since you are running an 01 I would check them soon.

The Fix my Hog DVD's are just fine, but there is no substitute for a service manual.

My official HD manual does not have cam tensioner inspection listed as a required service or maintenance item. Nor does it dictate how to inspect the tensioner. It does however provide the specs for deteriminig when replacement is needed.

Does yours?

A service manual has all the torque specs and you just need to pull the cam cover to inspect. The primary is easy to check, and you just need to lift the secondary with a flat blade and use a bright flashlight to inspect it.
