Need Advice!! Thunderheader or V&H Pro-pipe High Output??
#11
I had a Pro Pipe on my '04 Road King. Then I switched to a Thunderheader. When it came time to buy a pipe for my '10, there was only one choice. Thunderheader performance is good, and the sound is fantastic. Yes, the Thunderheader has a torque dip, but it makes good power!
The HO Pro Pipe does sound good, and looks good too. I didn't care for the regular Pro Pipe sound.

agreed! I used to be an avid Thunderheader fan, well I still am. I dig the sound of the thunderheader, nice and deeeeeeep. I recently switched to a fatcat and I don't think I'll ever go back to Thunderheader land..........

All 3 are good. Personally, I like the Thunderheader.
The Pro Pipe will yellow afterawhile. The TH ht/shields do cover where they blue up or yellow.
The fat Cat has a nice crisp sound, not as deep as a TH or PP (pp ha ha I like it)
The only thing about the Fatcat is the rear pipe, the way it makes the huge (S) bend. Good for covering the hole in the middle of the bike left by a 2/1 but, it sticks out. Can't be good for heat. They seem to have changed it slightly for 09 & newer. It looks better.
Any one of the three will be an overall performace improvement over stock head pipes or duals.

The truth is that different motors repond better to different pipes. There is no one size fits all. Where you want the power and riding style also play into the equation. I was reading Mike Stegman's Dyno site about a year ago. He is a big pusher of D&D Fat Cats. A guy wrote in saying he gained power on his particular build by going to a Pro Pipe from the Fat Cat. Mike agreed that some motors respond better to another pipe sometimes. Me, I like Supertrapps, but a lot of my friends swear by their T-headers. I really like the quality of V&H. Have you considered the new V&H Pro Pipe Chrome instead of that H.O. for your 95incher? Without running both pipes you will never know what fits your particular situation best. There are a lot of choices out there and that is confusing.
