What kind of truck do you have? If it's a full size truck it should work even if it's a short bed. I bought a short bed Dodge a couple of years ago, it was about 500 miles away & I rode my Ultra done to get it & loaded the bike in after I got there & drove back home that way. I didn't have any thing for a chock, just used 4 ratchet tie downs, I would recommend making a wheel chock out of some 2x4s & a2x6 to keep the front tire from turning. I was OK, but it's a lot safer with some kind of chock.

U-haul has a regular cargo trailer that is only a little bit more expensive than the motorcycle one. It has half sides to help deflect road debris, tie down loops on the floor in all 4 corners and the corrugated bottom helps stabilize the front tire side to side. It also has a nice ramp / lift gate and is low enough you can load and unload the bike yourself (although another set of hands makes the tieing it down easier). It cost about $200 to rent the trailer from Florida to Illinois a few years ago. I used the trailer just recently and it was $25 / day when used locally.

Also, don't cover your bike when trailering in open air, the wind and cover will beat the crap out of it. (not from experience, but I have been warned enough times to believe it). Also make sure the slack ends of your tie downs are secured or they will flap into the bike and beat it up.

The Bike will be in the back of a 27’ moving truck. There are really no good tie-downs inside the truck . I found this. Drop-Tail Pro Max Floor Stand

haulbikes.com

it's all they do, bikes & just bikes ...

my 2009 FLTRSE3 is in transit as I write, Florida to Mass...
they even ship for MoCo dealer to dealer, just enclosed tractor trailers, no prep, leave the fuel in ... if the bikes rolls they'll pick up and deliver, includes $15,000 insurance w/ $500 deductable and more coverage available, watch the video on their web page ... pricing also on their web page

Get 2 2x12s about 4ft long with eye bolt at each end. Put the rear tire on one and strap the bike down to it. Take the second one and stick it against the front of the front tire Strap the front of the bike down to it. Nail 2x4s along sides of the tires.
Nail the boards to the floor of the truck or block them in place to keep it from sliding.

I think I would use the plywood in the back of my pickup, or use a shipper. Are you sure you can't ride it?

I have to drive the Moving truck. would love to just ride there. If I did that I would have to fly back to drive the truck.
