Default Key Cost ?

Can anyone tell me what H-D/dealers charge for a new key ? I want to get a 3rd one and cut the head down to fit a novelty key head. Are their alternative choices or 3rd party options ? I'm new to the barrel head key thing.. Thanks

I think they are about $25.00 each from a dealer.

You have to buy them as a set of 2. The set is about $23 currently. If you want the little black plastic head cover, that'll cost ya more!

Just wondering why you would have to pay extra for the black plastic head cover? I just bought the matched key tour pack lock for less than $20. The tour pack lock came with two keys with the black plastic tops, just like the originals. All I needed to do was provide my four digit key number. See part number 53194-07

Every big rally I have been to, a vendor there had a key machine that could cut a duplicate from yours. Can't remember how much they charged. It was like 5 or 10 bucks. I had one made and it worked great.

Plus $45 dollars to get in, ( $90 if you include the wife) $40 in beer, $100 in jewelry my wife bought, $60 for t-shirts, I could go on.

That $25 at the dealer sounds cheap now.

I paid $7 from a local locksmith. It doesn't say Harley Davidson on it though!

Just go to a full service locksmith shop. He should be able to make you a duplicate key for less than $10.
