Default For off-road use only?

Is it possible to install older Harley slip-on mufflers on a 2009 Ultra Classic? I've got a set of older slip-ons (#64926-99, supposedly for "off-road use only") in the basement that have a much better sound to them than the '09 FLHTCU stock mufflers. I just got back from a trip to the Smoky Mountains and had to listen to my riding buddies' joke about my Gold-Wing-sounding ride for most of the 1500 miles of our trip! I've got to do something -- and fast!

Forgot to mention -- 96ci, stock A/C, OEM exhaust, no fuel management -- just like it came out of the box. Just looking for that old, familiar rumble from some mufflers I saved from my previous ride (2001 FLHT).

I know this is a stupid question but I never owned a new bike. Anyway, can baffles be removed from stock exhaust? I just removed my baffles yesterday and my bike now sounds what (I) think a Harley should sound like. I can actually hear the exhaust quite well going down the highway. Took a ride and a couple buddies loved it as well. Guaranteed on trips I will be using ear plugs.

Thanks for your response Pappashelby. Have you installed older mufflers like these before on newer bikes? Are there any issues with O2 sensors or something else I should be aware of? I posted this question on the Touring forum and on the Exhaust forum and got very few responses, so I'm thinking either this is another one of my hair-brained ideas or else not too many people have older-style SE mufflers hanging around their garages. Anyways, thanks for responding.

I thought the new slipons were longer than the older ones and not interchangable. I may be wrong.

Heck, I thought they changed pipe diameter but apparently not.

I would try them on one side for fit, if it all lines up you are good to go. Changing the mufflers only should not require tuning, fuel mgmt, etc unless you are going to straight pipes which the SE's are not.

Now if you have Stage 1 air upgrade or going to add that, then you will need a fuel management for certain.

BTW.....just put used V&H ovals on the wifes 07 RKC which is otherwise 100% stock 96 engine. Sounds great, runs great and I would suspect the SE's would do same for you.
