Sweet! Finally found one! Chain drive for IDS bikes!!
I know Zippers and 3Guyz makes chain conversion for non-IDS (cush drive) bikes. Neither company has a kit available yet for the newer bikes. Here's a guy that takes the stock pulley and modifies it.
He says he can powdercoat or polish it, depending on what you want. Pricey, but cool for sure. My buddy is ordering one. He's blown two belts in 2600 miles due to lots of burnouts...

I just blew a belt a few months ago. I thought hard about a chain for a few days. It sucks to be stranded due to something breaking on my bike. I replaced the belt with a new one but if i break another I will go chain. I ride at least 15,000 miles a year and need a reliable bike period. I changed the belt myself and could find no reason for the breakage. My last belt went over 75,000 miles and this one only went 41,000. I don't care if i will need to replace the chain more often. it's the breaking down with a blown belt that pisses me off.

In about 165k miles of riding on belts I've never had a problem, except for a hole in one that I repaired with JB Weld, and my last bike still has the original belt at 120k miles. It's the one with the repaired hole.

When I first read the IDS-chain idea I chuckled, with the same thoughts going through my head as you. I think that may be for people looking a bit too hard for something different to show-off at the bar on Saturday night. After a sufficient number of beers others may not ask too many obvious questions. OTOH, if the OP can't keep a belt intact maybe that's an alternative. If it were me in that situation I would just curtail the burnouts and ride.

If burnouts were the actual problem I would have had to put a couple dozen belts on my Road King. I had 9 rock punctures ( courtesy of an Oregon tropper needing to fly past us in a road construction zone) and rode it for another 5000 miles (still doing burnouts) and street racing and wheelies and no broken belt. Its the set up, adjustment or some cheap *** old aftermarket belts!
