Default Has Anyone upgrade headlights on their Road Glide?

I've seen some threads where people have mentioned upgrading their headlights on Road Glides. Has anyone done this? If so, what did you upgrade to?

First I took that big plastic bubble off the front, then I changed the bulbs to BMW Auto 85/100 bulbs. While I had the fairing off to replace the bulbs I cleaned inside the lenses,I also adjusted the top adjustment screw to pull the head lights up,so it made adjusting the two bottom adjustment screws alot easier. Now not only are my lights adjusted to the proper height, but they are alot brighter.

I just installed a $149 HID set-up. Here are the pics.

Stock - BEFORE

HID - AFTER

Stock vs HID

I have several other pictures of the install if you're interested. I'll post them if you are.

The Kit - $149

Stock bulbs

HID installed

I did have to grind the openings so the bulbs fit. Not a big deal IMO

The kit I used has an HID for low beam and a Halogin for High beam. This kit does not require a hot lead to the battery. It is plug and play.

The is a lot of wiring and parts to stuff behind the fairing but I mounted everything to the inside of the fairing above the headlight. Sorry, I don't have pics of that. You're on your own if you try it yourself.

The way I look at it, if I didn't like it, I'm only out $149. So far I like it. Very bright day of night. Reaches much farther than stock at night.

I also added the Kuryakyn driving lights for daytime visibility.

CAN YOU SEE ME NOW???

I'll second the HID lights. I paid $80 bucks for mine. I was tired of not being able to see on a dark road at night. The thing works great and I found that the high beam is worthless on a flat road. Kicks up to high to be usefull. Then on a ride through Cali on 101 I discovered that when your in a corner and you hit the highs, it lights the corner like crazy. Best mod I've put on the bike yet!! So here's to being able to see at night!!

I see the "Kit" that sifularson used is for an Automobile.

There is one thing to remember when changing the Headlight bulbs. The bulbs in a motorcycle is subjected to more vibration than any Automobile.
How will they hold up to this added vibration? Will the life of the bulb be reduced? Will it cost me more in the long run to replace the bulbs more often?

Terry,
Where do you find the ones for Harleys?
How do you find your own specific one?
Table or chart somewhere?

I agree 100%.

I bought this kit because a fellow forum member has been using the exact same kit for over 18 months. No heat issues and no bulb failure.

Thanks again to this awesome forum.

Like I said, it is only $149. Many other 2 bulb systems are closer to $500.

I see now that a RG owner can buy two of the Phat kits for the same price. That kit looks very similar to the dual kit I bought. I've done business with them, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their kits. GREAT PRICE.
