Question Temporary Zumo mount

I will be renting a bike (ElectraGlide) soon. I would like to run my Garmin Zumo on it but don't want to transfer the handlebar mount. Has anybody tried the suction cup (auto mount) attached to the speedo or tach glass? I thought about trying that and plugging into the cigarette lighter for power. I realize that the Zumo "gas guage" will not work but that is the only function I see that I will loose.

I also thought about attaching it to the gas cover but I am not sure it will stick to a curved surface.

Any insight???

Wouldn't try it because of the curves on the parts you speak of.

I rented a SG out in CA and took a U-Bolt RAM mount (I use a fixed mount on my bike so I had this one "in stock"). Also took the correct size wrench...it was small so not a big deal. Anyway, it was quick to install and WELL worth having in an unfamiliar area. I plugged into the cig lighter

Ran my Nuvi suction cupped to the tach glass on a 1000 mile round trip, never removed mount and it was suctioned on as tight as the day I put it on when I removed it. Should be fine as the tach glass if flat...

First of all, gas gauge is subjective. Only registers miles ridden (GPS tracked) against a mile limit you type in.
Second, suction cup might work but if it doesn't, you're screwed.
Bite the bullet and bring a "U" bolt type handlebar mount and a wrench and be sure.
Monstead had it right.

The suction cup mount in my truck for the Nuvi lets go every from the windshield once in a while no way would I use a suction cup mount for my expensive Zumo.... Just my opinion.

I purchased a U-bolt RAM mount set up from gpscity.com for about $11 - it's worth it and easy install/remove from rented bike.

That is the way I would do it also. I would not trust a suction cup to hold the GPS. I have had them fall of the windshield in the car enough...
