fxrt riding high
Hi guys. I recently purchased an 87 fxrt and the bike is a little too tall for me. I've got to tippie toe a little to keep the bike upright at a stop. I would like to know what the best way to go about lowering it about 2 inches. I was thinking of getting a set of 11.5" progressive suspension 412's for the rear and a progressive suspension 2" lowering fork springs for the front. This should give me the most bang for my buck right? Eventually, I'm going to swap a wide glide front end on it, but my budget is a little tight right now. Does anyone have any other suggestions or comments?
Heels?
Kidding...
I used to have to shave the seats down on my imports when there was no other option.
Removed the seat cover, shaved off what was needed with a filet knife and refastened the cover. Worked pretty well.

Save some money and look for stock shocks for a low rider, they're about 2 inches shorter.Same for the frontend,RT tubes are same as RS,low rider tubes are shorter, don't forget the springs, progressive work's well. You can keep the anti-dive if you want just put the right seal's in.
yeah, I'm sorry, but I lost my disco double suede's a couple days ago. But a great idea! Good sense of humor. As far as the seats, they're really nice mustangs so negative on that one. I like the RS front tubes and springs idea. I will start searching for some. I do want to go with some brand new shocks in the rear. The originals are 13" so I'm pretty set on a pair of 11 or 11.5". The anti-dive on the front forks had already been disconnected and capped off previously so no worries there. Thanks for the input guys. Thats exactly why I ask experienced riders.
