Time Spent on Overall Clean & Wax
#61
How can anyone spend an hour, let alone 5-8 hours, washing anything? I'd be bored to friggin' tears. In the year and a half I've had my Road King I don't think you could add up all of my washing time to make 5-8 hours. I take about 30 minutes every 2-3 months and give it a decent washing.
And I call horse hockey on anyone that thinks obsessing over detailing your bike means it gets taken better care of mechanically. My filthy *** bike is maintained perfectly.

Call it what ever you like, I have never had anything come off any bike I have ever owned.
"My filthy *** bike is maintained perfectly."
OK if you say so.
Obsessing ? naw just cleaning. Yours is an opinion (all be it wrong) just like mine, so I don't care if you ever wash it. I wish you many happy, safe and trouble free miles.

Bags off, bottle brushing between the fins of the jugs, full detail, polish & wax, about 3 hrs. If I didn't have the Mr Clean spot free rinse and the air dryer, it'd probably add an hour easy.
I usually spray the fenders, tank, etc with pledge and the shiny stuff with foaming invisible glass about once a week. It's easier to wipe it down often and spend only a few minutes. Then once a month on the super scrubbin', also this is when I get to check all the cables, fasteners, etc.

Once about every two months I spend about five hours detailing my bike. Bike spray on cleaner (S100) Then bucket of hot water, good soap, mitt and brushes
. Then I polish and wax everything and dress the tires and leather. Then between those major detailing sessions, I wipe the bike down after every ride with microfiber towel and a detail spray if need be. I also keep a large blanket over the bike in the summer/spring months when it's in the garage and I swear by my Harley bubble during the winter months.
That's it. My friends think I spend hours and
hours cleaning my bike and I don't. The key is to keep on top of it.

When I first got my bike, my wife told me that if I had rubbed her that much, we would have had more kids.
